I’ve had a busy day here placing more orders for toys and getting the toys we have newly received here onto the MumsTheWord website and available to buy. I feel as though people are getting ready for xmas a bit earlier this year, maybe trying to spread the cost of xmas over an extra month? Unfortunately that doesn’t include me, I have yet to get my act together, write my lists, come up with some fantastic inspiration, and then, of course, actually get to the shops or online and spend the money! Any ideas very gladly received.

My gift ideas this time are on the keeping extremities warm with something cute theme, here we go!

If you have, did you find that they helped the development of your baby? According to some research published yesterday, yopu can have as big an impact on your child’s development simply by talking to them.
So are the companies selling these DVDs taking advantage of parents’ desires to do the best for their children, by dressing up common sense as “edupsychobabble” or do they really have a measureable benefit in a child’s development.
My view is that they’re harmless and of limited value.Do you agree?

Hi there, today we had a delivery of Alex bath toys. There is nothing better than playing with toys in the bath, don’t we all have our favourite duck to float around with us. We also have a Noddy that must be at least 30 years so they certainly can be value for money! I wonder if anyone can beat that for a bath toy?

Well, I’ve been busy today adding some new toys to the site. They are from a fabulous company called Oskar & Ellen who make soft toy sets for role play and dressing up. They are handmade in the phillipines by a group of women so each is a little bit different. My favourite is the English Tea Party Set with it’s teapot (teabags as well) cups and saucers and lots of gorgeous food. I’m looking forward to being invited to a tea party!

52 Sleeps to Xmas, when did it change from days? I like it better than being told the number of shopping days, that sounds scary!

Here at MumsTheWord we have been working hard to find some great new toys that live up to what we expect of a good toy. We want them to be well made of quality materials, traditional yet innovative, good value for money and educational and last but certainly not least give children hours of fun.

According to a poll by Bounty, when it comes down to it, it is the mums that choose baby’s name, with dads coming a poor second – although a small number just drew names out of a hat.

Continuing maternity ward problems

A south London hospital has admitted that some women have had to give birth in a waiting room because of a shortage of beds in its maternity unit.
King’s College Hospital said such births were “very rare, with no waiting room deliveries at all since July”
The hospital seems almost to be proud of the fact that this this problem hasn’t occurred in the last two months – that it ever happened is a disgrace. Just where has all that extra cash gone?
